Benjamin Jaden Fernando's Arrival October 31, 2010

Jade's contractions began at 11:00 pm on Saturday October 30... by 2:00 am the contractions grew stronger and more regular! When the contractions were 2 minutes apart we decided to head for the hospital. Her water broke in the car while we were circling around trying to find parking. We were admitted by 2:30 am and 12 hours 21 minutes later our beautiful little bundle of joy took his first breath and cried his first cry.
It was a truly remarkable experience, one that we will never forget.

The Newest Family Portrait: Week 36!

Week 28 Ultrasound

Today was the big Week 28 ultrasound. Little Benjamin is 2 1/2 pounds. I can't believe I'm carrying around such a giant little creature. Apparently this is the time when he starts rapidly growing...And he already looks like his dad!

Really the Third Trimester!?

Lamb and I just registered for the official Birthing Education Course at Beth Israel---guess we're on the home stretch now! It's hard to believe I have a 2 pound being inside me who is going to continue getting bigger....and bigger....and bigger....

Clothes and Things For Baby

My great friend Sara who has twin almost-two-year-olds sat down with me and went over the essential items we will need to bring Benjamin Grey into the world. We have registries at Babys R Us and Pottery Barn, but also need the following clothes from any stores (some great ones listed on the left here, Baby Gap, BabyWit, My Baby Rocks, Retro Baby, and Sandbox Threads):

* 0-3 month footed onesies, fleece long sleeve
* 0-3 month footed onesies, 1-2 short sleeve
* 0-3 month footed onesies, regular long sleeve
* 3-6 month snowsuit (Baby Gap good for this)
* Sweaters (Red Hook gets cold in the winter!)
* Winter baby hats
* and any other cute clothes, 0-6 month for cold weater, 7-12 month spring/ summer

26 weeks, almost 27

Well I'm finally looking more like I am carrying a volleyball around in my tummy, and little Benjamin is very active lately! I think he is definitely bound for the olympics. At the doctor's 3 weeks ago he was already 13 inches tall---maybe we're in for a surprise, a tall Doskow-Fernando!

Here We Are, 24 weeks, 16 to go!
